Many consumers have sighed a sigh of relief with the introduction of the latest medical alert systems, and for some these types of systems have become imperative for the elderly and frail individuals who may otherwise be impaired in some respect. These systems give the loved ones some form of confidence, and give the elderly individuals some form of independence too. These systems enable the elderly and the frail to live in their own homes, without companions or without the need for a live in carer or nurse. Basically, the operation of the system is via a button or a gadget that is attached to the person’s body. The medical alert system will transmit a signal to the control base or headquarters, which will in turn send an emergency medical personnel to the scene. Some of the more advanced units also trigger simply on being jerked around, as it may transpire that the elderly individual may not be able to actually trigger the unit. These units would then be triggered simply when their is some from of disturbance to the unit, or with the super advanced units, they can actually monitor the vitals of the person, and alert the central command unit when these vitals or movement is not seen for some time.
